On March 18th 2018, I'll be running the 2018 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon as a member of team Athletes to End Alzheimer's, in honor of my Grandma Grecia “Mami” and my aunt Marisol “Titi Sol”, and to support the millions of others affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia and their caregivers. Thankfully my grandmother is still with us, but she is battling with dementia every single day. My aunt passed away from early onset Alzheimer in 2012.
This half marathon is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to raise funds for a very meaningful charitable organization. I will be running for my aunt, my grandmother and more importantly for all my family members that have been impacted by the disease one way or another. To my family member, “Turquesas, esto es para ustedes!”
By participating as a member of team Athletes to End Alzheimer's, I’m committed to raising awareness and funds for CaringKind, The Heart of Alzheimer's Caregiving which provides free information, assistance and support for those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, as well as for their family members, caregivers and professionals. Currently, over 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's, and the number of Americans with Alzheimer’s will increase significantly over the next two decades, with expectations that the population of people age 65 and older will double.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to CaringKind to help me reach my goal. Your donation makes an impact on Alzheimer’s!
