General Questions:
What is the CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk?
The CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk is New York City’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care & support. The event is held annually in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. Everyone affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia including Caregivers, friends, family, caregivers, sponsors, volunteers and community leaders are encouraged to attend for a day full of remembrance, promise and hope. Click here to access our Walk Homepage.

Does every walker get a T-shirt?
Every registered participant will receive a T-shirt who individually fundraises $100. Walkers receive their official CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk T-Shirt at the day of the walk.

How can my company participate in or sponsor a walk?
We need your help! We’re counting on local companies to be leaders in the community and to help make our Walk a success. Companies can participate in many ways including forming a team and sponsoring our Walks. If your company wants to sponsor the CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk, please contact Candace Douglas (cdouglas@caringkindnyc.org) for more information.

Registration:
Do I have to register in order to walk?
Yes! Think of this as your RSVP to New York City’s greatest event! We want to know you’re walking with us and each walker must sign a standard waiver through their official registration.

Is there a registration fee?
The CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk has no registration fee but encourage all our Walkers to make a self-donation to kick start their fundraising efforts.

How do I register?
To register online for a Walk, visit our Walk website and select the Walk most convenient to you, then click "GET STARTED". You’ll have the option to sign up as a Virtual Walker or Walker. You’ll also be able to join or create a team and invite people to walk with you!

How do I register children under the age of 18 online?
To register family members, begin your own registration and enter your details. At the end of the registration flow, you will see a "register another person" button; click this button to add children for whom you have the legal authority to sign our liability waiver.

How do I register others online after I've completed my registration?
Each participant over the age of 18 must register themselves so they can accept the terms of the liability waiver and provide their unique email address so they can receive details about the event.

CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk Teams:
How do I create a team?
Join us at the CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk with your friends, family, and colleagues!  If you're a new participant, click "Create a Team." You will automatically become the team captain for your team. Then ask everyone to join your team and walk with us on behalf of the thousands of New Yorkers affected by Alzheimer’s.

How many people should be on my team?
There is no required minimum of team members, but on average, most teams have 5-10 people per team. Don’t know who’s joining you yet? We still encourage you to create a team and you can always recruit members later throughout the year.

I am a Team Captain. What are my next steps?
Team captains are our key leaders at the CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk! As a team captain, you’ll recruit team members, raise awareness for Alzheimer’s and CaringKind, help team members fundraise, keep them motivated and have fun supporting an important cause! We suggest you set-up your individual and team page and then recruit others to join you. Once you’ve recruited teammates, you can keep them updated on any new Walk related events or details about Walk day (when to meet, where to park, where to mail donations, etc.)

Fundraising:
How do I start fundraising?
Now that you have registered for the walk, it’s time to spread the word and ask your supporters for their help in your fundraising efforts. The best way is to start is to share your personal story about why you're participating in the CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk and what make this cause important to you. You can share your story on your personal fundraising page, as well as in emails to potential supporters and/or on social media. Your Fundraising Dashboard makes this easy for you once you register by allowing you to update your message, add photos, post to social media etc. Once your page is updated, share it with everyone!

What is my Walk Dashboard?
Your Walk Dashboard is an online portal for your CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk fundraising efforts. In your Walk Dashboard, you’ll find all the tools you need to set up a fundraising web page, send fundraising emails, fundraising tips and resources, and check your fundraising success.
